Taxes & Wealth Inequality
The Issue
Tax the Rich. Invest in Working Families.
The United States is experiencing economic inequality not seen since before the Great Depression. We are on track to see the world’s first trillionaire while millions struggle to afford rent, childcare, and groceries. That must change. Elon Musk’s wealth could be redistributed to make every person in the 8th district into a millionaire and still remain a multi-billionaire. Our tax code rewards wealth over work.
Our Promises
Restructure the tax code to benefit working and middle-class families: strengthen the Earned Income Tax Credit, expand the Child Tax Credit, create first-generation homebuyer assistance, and establish wealth-building asset programs for working-class households
Restore the full SALT deduction—gutted by the 2017 Republican tax law—and target any fix to benefit working and middle-class homeowners in high-cost states like New Jersey
Close the loopholes that allow the ultra-wealthy to pay lower effective tax rates than their employees: raise the corporate tax rate, tax capital gains as ordinary income for the wealthy, and end the carried interest deduction
