Infrastructure & Public Transit
The Issue
Faster, Cheaper, Greener Transit for NJ-08
NJ-08 is one of the most densely populated congressional districts in America, sitting at the intersection of the largest financial center in the world, port, and airports on the East Coast. Efficient, affordable mass transit is not a luxury; it is economic infrastructure. Every dollar invested in transit pays back many times over in reduced congestion, cleaner air, and working-class mobility.
Our Promises
Create an extension of the PATH Train to South Street in Newark and its airport and further extension of the Hudson-Bergen and Newark Light Rails to underserved communities
Demand the full completion and federal funding of the Gateway Tunnel Project, including the reinstatement of any funding cut by the Trump administration, to replace the century-old tunnels that are the most critical rail chokepoint in the country
Call for expanded and modernized green NJ Transit bus and rail service, with investment in transit options for communities currently left with few or no alternatives
Insist that all federal infrastructure jobs are unionized, pay prevailing wages, and are tied to enforceable labor standards
Invest in the clean energy transition as an infrastructure priority: community-focused renewable energy, green building retrofits, and climate-resilient infrastructure
