Climate & Environment
The Issue
Invest in Green Energy. Clean Up Pollution in Our Communities.
Climate change is not a future threat. It is happening now. Flooding, extreme heat, poor air quality, and unsafe drinking water hit Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Bayonne, and Elizabeth the hardest. The communities that cause the least pollution bear the greatest burden. We need bold action that connects climate justice to economic justice.
Our Promises
Champion the Green New Deal framework that ties aggressive emissions reduction to economic opportunity, including federal investment in clean energy manufacturing, retrofitting buildings, and transitioning away from fossil fuels in a way that creates millions of union jobs
Call for a federal ban on new fossil fuel exploration and leasing on public lands and waters and support the transition of energy utilities to democratic public ownership
Hold corporate polluters legally and financially accountable for the environmental damage they have caused to frontline communities with direct remediation funding directly to those communities
Demand full remediation of the severe industrial pollution in NJ-08, including contaminated sites, toxic waterways, and legacy air quality violations that continue to harm residents
